Mayor’s Infrastructure EDI: SEN Schools

Amanprit led the Mayor’s Infrastructure High-Level Group (LIG), a coalition of senior executives from infrastructure providers, regulators, government, and industry, for long-term better infrastructure planning.

She also spearheaded the infrastructure sector’s Diversity and Inclusion Programme, designed to expand and diversify the talent pipeline. This initiative comprised four key workstreams: a sector-specific HR network, primary school outreach, cross-sector reciprocal mentoring, and data collection.

Building Future London showcased diverse career pathways in infrastructure and construction through a new sector-specific approach. It aimed to engage underrepresented groups early, challenge stereotypes, and broaden young children’s horizons.

The programme reached nearly 3,500 children across 30 targeted primary schools in London – exceeding the initial target of 1,800 pupils. 75 industry role model volunteers participated, video resources were produced, and the Jobs of the Future Competition was launched.

Through her lived experience lens, Amanprit incorporated innovative strategies through the inclusion of Special Education Needs (SEN) schools, bringing fresh thinking to programme delivery.
